SUBJECT:  Gay and Lesbian Pride Month 2002

FROM:  Donald Welsh

Throughout the year, the Region acknowledges the efforts and accomplishments of different member-groups of our diverse community. In our ongoing efforts to achieve the mission of the Agency and serve our nation, we must embrace our differences and recognize our overwhelming similarities. As members of a community, we must all strive to treat each other with dignity, respect, tolerance and fairness.

Gay and Lesbian Pride Month in June provides an opportunity for putting aside differences, promoting understanding, recognizing similarities and affirming the human rights of all persons regardless of their race, religion, ethnicity, disability or sexual orientation.

Please join with me, Joyce Howell, our Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender Program Manager (GLBT), and other members of the Region who have worked with her, in taking this opportunity to participate in the attached list of activities. I encourage all employees to attend as many events as your calendar permits.
